Steel Bridge Assessment & Improvements
Long-Term Transportation Planning
TriMet, Portland, Oregon

The Steel Bridge Assessment & Improvements project was a past initiative undertaken by TriMet in Portland, Oregon, between 2016 and 2018. The project's primary goal was to evaluate the long-term transportation planning for the Steel Bridge and its associated light rail line, ensuring the resilience and sustainability of the infrastructure.

As a subcontractor, our team played a vital role in the project by assisting with report writing and providing memos to TriMet. We collaborated closely with the primary contractor to conduct in-depth assessments of the Steel Bridge and its light rail line, focusing on identifying areas for improvement and potential risks associated with the existing infrastructure.

One of the key aspects of the project involved developing a resiliency plan for the light rail crossing the Steel Bridge. Our team explored various alternatives to enhance the overall resilience and reliability of the transportation system, including the possibility of tunneling to create a more robust and secure crossing solution.

Throughout the project, our team provided valuable insights and recommendations to TriMet, which informed the development of long-term transportation strategies for the Steel Bridge and its light rail line. The project's successful completion contributed to the ongoing improvement of Portland's transportation infrastructure and helped to ensure that the city's public transit systems remain efficient, reliable, and sustainable for years to come.
