Division Transit High Capacity Improvement Project, TriMet / Outer Division Multi-Modal Safety Project (ODMMSP), City of Portland PBOT

The Division Transit High Capacity Improvement Project and the Outer Division Multi-Modal Safety Project (ODMMSP) were significant transportation initiatives undertaken by the City of Portland's Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) in collaboration with the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability (BPS), Prosper Portland, TriMet, and MetroPortland. The primary goal of these projects was to enhance public transit capacity, improve multimodal transportation infrastructure, and increase overall safety for all road users along the Division corridor.

As the Communications Lead, DBE Manager, and Workforce Coordinator, my key responsibilities included serving as a liaison for communities affected by the project improvements, ensuring that all stakeholders were well-informed and engaged in the decision-making process. We actively organized and participated in community events and meetings, gathering valuable feedback and addressing concerns raised by the public.

In addition to community engagement, we provided small business technical support, helping local businesses navigate the challenges and opportunities associated with the project's construction and implementation phases. Our team was crucial in fostering strong relationships between the City of Portland PBOT, BPS, Prosper Portland, TriMet, MetroPortland, and the communities directly impacted by the project.

Throughout the project, we were responsible for reporting findings and comments from the community to the project team and decision-makers, ensuring that their voices were heard and their concerns were addressed in the planning and execution of the Division Transit High Capacity Improvement Project and the ODMMSP.

By prioritizing community engagement and fostering strong partnerships, these projects contributed significantly to developing a more efficient, sustainable, and safe transportation network in Portland, benefiting residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
