OR 62 - Crater Lake Highway, Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT)

The OR 62 - Crater Lake Highway project is a past initiative undertaken by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) between 2009 and 2012, aimed at improving the transportation infrastructure along the Crater Lake Highway.

The project was awarded for its successful execution and innovative environmental coordination and sustainability approach. Key responsibilities involved serving as a liaison between clients and consultants, overseeing and reviewing environmental technical analyses, and ensuring seamless communication throughout the project.

The preparation and review of NEPA and SEPA documents were crucial to the project's success. As Deputy Project Manager, I worked closely with clients and consultants to develop comprehensive Draft Environmental Impact Statements (DEIS), which included detailed analysis of construction and operational energy consumption, fuel economy, and potential mitigation measures. By addressing environmental concerns proactively, the project minimized negative impacts on the surrounding ecosystem.

In addition to environmental coordination, the role also involved the creation of all technical reports related to the project, including authoring the energy and transportation sections. These reports provided valuable insights into the project's energy efficiency and sustainability, offering guidelines for future projects and contributing to the project's overall success.

Ultimately, the OR 62 - Crater Lake Highway project stands as a testament to the importance of environmental coordination and sustainability in modern transportation infrastructure development. The project set a benchmark for future initiatives within the Oregon Department of Transportation through effective communication, meticulous planning, and innovative solutions.
